It is Wednesday ----- My heart is finally back to normal now. We had a bat in the house this morning. We have been getting a few of them this week. With the wet spring and summer we have had tons of bugs and the bats are lovin' it.
I got up a little early this morning and went to the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. I took Lucky out side. We were both coming back into the house and it was still kinda dark, I was heading into the bedroom and next thing I knew there was a bat flying about 6 inches from my head.... I just stood there for a moment before it sunk in what had just happened. I yelled and grabbed Lucky and in the bedroom we ran. Ron was pretty bummed out when I told him what had just happened. By the time he got up, Jake was downstairs. Not really sure where the bat went to but I am hoping he went out side.... We haven't had any bats in the house in a couple of years, but this year we have had a few. In the past two weeks there have been at least three. Ron will have to get that fixed :)
I am a little bummed out. Ron is leaving for a golfing trip with his buddies on Friday and coming home on Sunday. I am not looking forward to having a bat flying around while he is not home.....
Last night was my last night golfing on my woman's league... Next week is fun night. It was really hot out and the wind died right down. I was dressed for it be a little cooler.... So I did not golf really well. But not bad either. I had a couple really good putts. That had saved me a little bit.
Tonight Jeff and I have our Ma and Pa league. We are having food after we are done. So that will work - I don't have to make supper tonight. But I did have to make up a surprise dish last night when I got home. I made that Jello and pretzel dessert. I wish I thought a moment more. I could have made that Grape salad. Which would have been a lot easier. I guess I was hungry for the jello stuff. Plus I was using the last of my strawberries from last year. Gotta get them used up so I can get to this years....
Speaking of Lucky and strawberries..... He just loves to eat them so you know how hard he is trying to not look at the berries.....Cleaned and ready to eat. Don't they look really yummy......All ready for the freezer..... I think we had about 12 quarts that we froze. Not counting the ones I used in strawberry deserts and gave away.....Sunday (Aug 9th) was the one year anniversary for Amanda (our daughter in law) death. Everyone stayed pretty busy that day and we had Jeff come over to the house and eat with us. He was doing pretty good. We didn't really talk about what day it was. It still doesnt seen real. But it is what it is........
I started to make a new quilt top last weekend. It is a scrappy one. I found the pattern in the the American patchwork and quilting mag. The center block is the maple leaf and then you add strips like log cabin block. I have all the leaves cut now I just need to sew them all together. I will try and post a picture when I get a moment. I think it will look pretty cool. I am making the leaves in red, burgundy, brown, greens, and a yellow. I even had a bug to make it a little bigger and make it for my bed. But my bed is king size.... I will have to complete a few more of the blocks and see....
Here is a copy of the quilt I am making.....
Have a wonderful day and I hope to post a couple of pics later today
